A busy independent repair shop is hiring a Light & Medium-Duty Diesel Technician in Manchester, MD to service diesel pickups and fleet vehicles. Duties & Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on diesel pickups, SUVs, and Class 3–5 commercial fleet vehicles.
- Perform diesel engine diagnostics, emissions troubleshooting, brake repairs, steering and suspension work, and preventive maintenance.
- Use modern scan tools, diagnostic software, and testing procedures to identify drivability and electrical issues.
- Service Power Stroke, Duramax, and Cummins platforms, along with commercial box trucks and regional delivery vehicles.
- Inspect, test, and verify completed repairs to keep vehicles safe, reliable, and ready for service.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while supporting an efficient shop workflow.
Requirements
- Required:

- 2+ years of professional automotive or light- and medium-duty diesel repair experience, or recent completion of an automotive or diesel training program with strong hands-on mechanical ability.
- Hands-on experience with diesel platforms, general automotive repair, and electrical troubleshooting.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, emissions, and drivability issues using scan tools and testing procedures.
- Must provide a basic personal tool set; major diagnostic equipment, lifts, and specialty tools are provided.
- Reliable, detail-oriented work habits and the ability to complete repairs accurately and efficiently.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to complete a pre-employment criminal background check.

- ASE certifications.

- $28.00 – $42.00+/hour based on experience, certifications, and skill level
