Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan, assign, and supervise mechanics and garage personnel performing maintenance, repair, and overhaul work.
- Oversee repairs on heavy construction equipment, trucks, passenger vehicles, emergency generators, fueling systems, and related fleet assets.
- Assist technicians with complex diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair decisions, and safe tool use.
- Inspect major repairs, maintenance work, and new equipment to ensure repairs are completed properly and specifications are met.
- Maintain repair records, support repair-or-replace decisions, and assist with fleet purchase specifications.
- Help ensure shop safety and compliance with applicable DOT, CARB, ACF, OSHA, BIT, and fleet maintenance requirements.
Requirements
- Required:

- 3+ years of journey-level repair experience, including 2+ years repairing heavy construction equipment and 1+ year repairing truck/automotive equipment.
- At least 1 year of supervisory experience in a related repair, fleet, shop, or equipment maintenance environment.
- Hands-on experience repairing and overhauling gasoline and diesel-powered trucks, construction equipment, and automotive equipment.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting ability across mechanical, diesel, electrical, and related fleet systems.
- Ability to plan work, coordinate shop priorities, guide technicians, maintain repair records, and communicate clearly.
- Valid California Driver’s License at time of hire, with ability to obtain an unrestricted California Class A CDL within 6 months.
- Able to assist mechanics in a hands-on shop role, drive throughout the county as needed, and complete required background, physical, and DOT drug/alcohol screening.

- ASE Master Certification in Automotive and/or Medium/Heavy-Duty Truck Repair.
- Valid unrestricted Class A CDL with Passenger and Tanker endorsements.
- Experience with fleet maintenance software such as EJ Ward, AssetWorks, or comparable systems, plus proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Working knowledge of DOT, CARB, Advanced Clean Fleets, BIT inspections, Cal/OSHA requirements, repair records, and fleet procurement specifications.

- 1st shift / day shift
- 4/10 schedule
- Monday to Thursday, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Weekend overtime may be required as needed to support operations
Compensation
- $90,885.72 – $118,645.20/year based on experience and qualifications
- Approximately $43.70 – $57.04/hour equivalent
