A family-owned general repair shop is hiring a Diesel Mechanic in West Plains, MO to perform in-shop diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and mechanical repairs. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel engines, electrical systems, mechanical failures, and related components.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and mechanical repairs on commercial vehicles and fleet equipment.
  • Service vehicles and equipment for railroad, school, hazmat, and other commercial fleet customers.
  • Use diagnostic tools and testing procedures to identify issues and complete accurate repairs.
  • Maintain high repair quality and follow professional shop standards.
  • Support in-shop repairs and service calls as needed while keeping work areas clean, organized, and safe.

 

Requirements

  • Required:
    • Minimum 2 years of in-shop diesel mechanic experience.
    • Hands-on experience performing diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and mechanical repairs.
    • Ability to properly diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical failures.
    • Experience working on commercial vehicles, fleet equipment, or similar diesel repair work.
    • Must provide personal tools; specialty tools and diagnostic tools are supplied by the company.
    • Able to lift 50+ lbs, stand for full 8-hour shifts, and perform physical repair work in a shop environment.
    • Dependable work habits, strong attention to repair quality, and ability to work in a clean, team-oriented shop.

Shifts

  • Day shift, Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Up to 2 Saturdays per month

Compensation

  • $28.00 – $40.00/hour based on experience
  • Overtime after 40 hours per week
  • Service calls pay up to $75.00/hour
  • Weekly tool truck allowance
