A reputable and well-established employer with a large-scale heavy equipment operation is urgently seeking a Lead Hand Mechanic to oversee a team of technicians in a fast-paced, hands-on environment!

The ideal Lead Hand will have:

• 15+ years of hands-on experience in heavy equipment mechanics
• A valid Mechanics License (421A preferred; 310T or 310S acceptable)
• Strong leadership ability with experience mentoring junior and senior technicians
• Advanced diagnostic knowledge in electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems

Responsibilities:

• Manage and mentor a team of 8 technicians with varying experience levels
• Perform hands-on diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on intermodal cranes and heavy equipment
• Conduct technical assessments and quality control checks on completed work
• Schedule and coordinate daily work assignments across shop and yard operations
• Maintain efficient operations across multiple locations
• Respond to after-hours inquiries and provide on-call support when required
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and company procedures
• Provide technical training, guidance, and mentorship to team members
• Read and interpret schematics and technical documentation
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment

Compensation:

• $100,000 - $115,000 annually (~$53 - $55/hr) based on experience and qualifications
• Overtime available after 44 hours per week
