Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead daily shop workflow, scheduling, work assignments, and technician coverage.
• Supervise technicians while maintaining safety, quality, professionalism, and customer service standards.
• Diagnose, repair, inspect, and oversee work on fleet vehicles, service vehicles, and equipment.
• Use wiring diagrams, hydraulic diagrams, diagnostic tools, tablet-based tools, and email to manage repairs and documentation.
• Communicate with customers, resolve concerns, identify service needs, and support compliance and spill-prevention standards.
• Represent the team professionally while managing priorities with independence and accountability.

Requirements

• Required:

• • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of mechanic experience with diesel, fleet, service vehicle, or equipment maintenance.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; Class A or B CDL required.
  • Strong hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical repair skills, including the ability to read wiring and hydraulic diagrams.
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools, tablet-based tools, email, and Microsoft Office to support scheduling, dispatching, repairs, and communication.
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, safe work habits, and ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Must provide basic hand tools, lift up to 50 lbs, and pass eRailSafe background screening, pre-employment drug testing, and random drug testing.

• Preferred:

• • Prior lead, foreman, or team management experience.
  • Familiarity with Hyrail equipment and ANSI, FRA, DOT, OSHA, and EPA requirements.
  • Formal technician or mechanic training, including equipment or long-haul truck training.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, telehandlers, hydraulic lifts, hand trucks, and other material handling equipment.
